We have just uploaded our latest article entitled “Chess Special Moves”. This article describes at length three special moves that can be played during a game of chess. Each special move has a distinct strategic advantage and should be learned by the beginner chess player as soon as possible.

The three special moves are:

  • Pawn promotion. A pawn can be promoted to another piece when it reaches the back row.
  • En Passant. This rule allows a pawn to be taken off the board during the first move under certain circumstances.
  • Castling. Castling effectively allows a king to pass though a rook. This move is often played in the early game providing the king with a great defensive position.
