First Move Advantage

We have just released our latest article explaining the theory behind first move advantage. This theory simply states that white has an advantage as white always moves first. Although statistically true, the article concludes by proposing that the advantage is insignificant when playing at the casual level.
The article abstract follows:
Belated pop star Michael Jackson coined the immortal words “It doesn’t mater if you are black or white”. The world is certainly rallying to make this true in everyday life, but is it true for a game of chess? Many chess players have at one point questioned whether moving first is an advantage.
This article attempts to put this question to rest.
